Alstom to Deliver 15 Flexity Trams to Graz

Alstom, a manufacturer of intelligent and sustainable mobility solutions, has officially signed a contract with Holding Graz for the delivery and maintenance of 15 Flexity trams. The agreement was formalized on January 31, 2024, following an initial award of the contract in May 2023.

The new Flexity trams for Graz will be 33.81 meters long, an increase of six meters compared to the trams currently in service, and will offer a 30% higher passenger capacity, accommodating up to 200 people. A key feature is the world's lowest entry height of 215 mm, ensuring full accessibility for all passengers.

The trams will be manufactured at Alstom's facility in Vienna, Austria, maintaining significant value creation within the country. Alstom stated that these new vehicles are designed to optimize transport capacity and boarding speed, contributing to reduced congestion in Graz's city center.

Graz joins a growing list of cities operating Alstom's Flexity trams, with approximately 2,000 units sold globally. The trams are already in successful operation in other Austrian cities like Vienna, Linz, and Innsbruck. Production of the 15 trams for Graz is scheduled to commence by the end of 2024.
