Alstom to deliver Belgrade's first metro for €915 million
Alstom has secured a €915 million contract to supply trains and systems for Belgrade's first metro line. This turnkey solution includes 32 Metropolis trains and a fully automated system for Serbia's capital.

Alstom will supply the trains and infrastructure for Belgrade's first metro line under a €915 million contract. The project, connecting Makiško Polje to Karaburma, marks a significant step in modernizing the Serbian capital's public transport.
The first phase of Metro Line 1 will cover 15 kilometers with 15 stations, including 11 kilometers of tunnels. By shifting a substantial portion of transit underground, the line aims to alleviate chronic surface congestion and enhance Belgrade's accessibility as a European capital.
As the system integrator, Alstom will deliver 32 driverless three-car Metropolis trains, alongside signaling, telecommunications, power supply, trackwork, platform screen doors, and a centralized control center with cybersecurity systems. The Metropolis trains will be manufactured at Alstom's facility in Valenciennes, France.
The project, which is benefiting from French government funding, signifies a major urban development for Belgrade. Alstom has extensive experience with automated metro systems globally, having implemented similar projects in Paris, Singapore, and Lyon.
