Alstom to supply 12 high-speed trains to Proxima, including 15 years of maintenance
Alstom has secured an order from Proxima for 12 Avelia Horizon very high-speed trains, along with a 15-year maintenance contract. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028.

Alstom will supply 12 Avelia Horizon very high-speed trains to Proxima, under a contract valued at approximately €850 million. The agreement, announced on October 3, 2024, also includes 15 years of maintenance services. The first train deliveries are scheduled to commence in 2028.
Proxima, which launched in June 2024, is positioned as the first independent company to enter the French high-speed rail market. Led by industry figures Rachel Picard and Tim Jackson, and financed by Antin Infrastructure Partners and a consortium of banks, Proxima aims to operate services connecting Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Angers, and Paris.
The Avelia Horizon trains represent the latest generation of Alstom's double-decker high-speed technology, capable of speeds exceeding 300 km/h. The design focuses on operational flexibility, safety, and passenger experience, while also aiming to reduce operating costs through features like fewer bogies and increased seating capacity.
This significant order will involve 11 of Alstom's 16 French production sites. Key manufacturing roles will be distributed across facilities including Belfort for power cars, La Rochelle for passenger cars, and Villeurbanne for control-command systems.
