Alstom to Supply 15 Additional Avelia Horizon High-Speed Trains to SNCF Voyageurs
Alstom has received an order from SNCF Voyageurs for 15 new Avelia Horizon high-speed trains, valued at approximately €600 million. Deliveries for these additional trains are scheduled to commence in 2029.

Alstom, a manufacturer of rail transport solutions, has secured an additional order for its Avelia Horizon high-speed trains from French operator SNCF Voyageurs. The order, valued at approximately €600 million, extends the existing framework contract between the two companies.
The 15 new trains are a quad-voltage version of the Avelia Horizon, designed to meet European traffic requirements. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2029. This latest order follows previous agreements for 115 Avelia Horizon trains for SNCF, bringing the total order volume for this new generation of high-speed trains to 130 units directly for SNCF, plus an additional 30 for Eurostar.
The Avelia Horizon platform is designed to enhance competitiveness and profitability within the rail sector. Alstom highlights the trains' contribution to sustainable mobility, with the new generation TGV expected to consume 20% less energy than current models due to aerodynamic design and more efficient traction.
Key features of the Avelia Horizon include its two compact, high-performance power cars and articulated double-decker coaches. The design prioritizes reduced maintenance costs, projected to be over 30% lower than current SNCF Voyageurs' expenses. Predictive maintenance capabilities, enabled by a remote diagnostic system, are incorporated to improve reliability and availability.
