Alstom to supply 23 electric trains and maintenance to Greece
Alstom has signed a contract valued at €393 million with Hellenic Train to supply 23 Coradia Stream electric trains and provide 10 years of maintenance. The trains aim to modernize passenger rail services in Greece.

Alstom will supply 23 Coradia Stream Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) to Hellenic Train, Greece's primary private railway company. The contract, valued at €393 million, includes a 10-year maintenance agreement for the trains. Eleven trains are designated for suburban commuter routes, while the remaining twelve will serve intercity travel.
The trains will have a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Design and production will be carried out at Alstom's manufacturing site in Savigliano, Italy. Each train will consist of six cars with seating capacities tailored to their intended service: intercity trains will accommodate 335 passengers, and suburban trains will offer 362 seats.
Both Alstom and Hellenic Train representatives emphasized the contract's role in modernizing Greece's passenger rail transport and enhancing the passenger experience. Features designed for passenger comfort include large luggage racks, charging sockets, and dedicated spaces for bicycles and strollers. The trains will also be equipped with a digital passenger counting system and an information system with audio and visual displays.
This order is expected to contribute significantly to upgrading the Greek rail network and meeting European standards for passenger comfort and service efficiency.
