Alstom to supply 49 additional Coradia Stream trains to Renfe in Spain

Alstom has been awarded a contract valued at nearly €370 million from Spanish rail operator Renfe for an additional 49 Coradia Stream trains. This latest order increases Renfe's total number of Coradia Stream trains from Alstom to 201, with the combined value of the two orders reaching €1.8 billion.

The contract also includes the supply of spare parts and the maintenance of 56 trains for 15 years. All trains will be manufactured at Alstom's production facility in Santa Perpètua, Barcelona. The facility is undergoing significant investment and a digitalization plan, including the creation of the largest automated workshop within the Alstom Group, to support this project.

The Coradia Stream trains ordered by Renfe are designed to meet increased passenger capacity demands in Spain's busiest rail hubs, including Madrid and Barcelona. Each train measures 100 meters and can accommodate up to 900 passengers. Their mixed-configuration design, featuring both single and double-deck cars, is tailored to the evolving needs of urban mobility.

Developed with eco-design principles from material selection to traction systems, the trains prioritize passenger comfort, universal accessibility, and efficient passenger flow. They will also offer Wi-Fi connectivity and dedicated spaces for bicycles and strollers. Alstom's technology aims to ensure high availability and efficient utilization of rail lines.
