Alstom to supply 96 RER NG trainsets for Paris RER D line
Alstom has secured an order for 96 new RER NG trainsets for the RER D line in the Paris region. The deal is valued at approximately 1.7 billion euros.
Transport manufacturer Alstom will supply 96 new RER NG trainsets for the RER D line in the Île-de-France region. The order, formalized by SNCF Voyageurs, follows approval of the financing agreement by the Île-de-France Mobilités board.
This new order, financed entirely by Île-de-France Mobilités, brings the total number of RER NG trainsets ordered for the RER D line to 132 units. Alstom has previously supplied these trains for the RER E line, with them entering service on RER D in December 2024.
The RER NG trains are designed to enhance passenger capacity and accessibility. Features include open-plan interiors, wide doors for easier boarding and alighting, and level boarding for passengers with reduced mobility. Comfort features such as air conditioning and USB charging ports are also included.
The contract underscores Alstom's significant role in France's rail transport sector. The company states the new trains will improve passenger comfort and service reliability on the RER D line, a key artery in the region.
