Alstom TrainScanner enters service in Warsaw for train maintenance

Alstom's TrainScanner system for predictive maintenance has been deployed at the Pendolino Service Centre in Warsaw, Poland. The system will be used to maintain PKP Intercity's fleet of 20 Avelia Pendolino trains.

TrainScanner performs predictive maintenance and continuous assessment of rolling stock's technical condition, identifying optimal component replacement times through digital data analysis. This implementation in Warsaw draws on Alstom's experience from the United Kingdom, where the system has serviced the Avanti West Coast Pendolino fleet for years.

The system employs 3D cameras and lasers for automated condition-based and predictive maintenance of wheels, brake pads, and pantograph carbon strips, as well as under-frames and body shells. Subsystem information is captured as the train passes through the TrainScanner.

Alstom states that the TrainScanner and its HealthHub platform offer benefits by reducing material consumption and the number of required maintenance activities, leading to significant savings for fleet owners. The system also contributes to longer maintenance intervals and increased operational safety.
