Altenburger Land Cheese Dairy Enhances Packaging Process with Hovmand Lift

Altenburger Land, a German cheese dairy established in 1897, has optimized its packaging operations by integrating Hovmand's mobile roll lifter. This investment addresses ergonomic challenges and enhances efficiency in handling large packaging material rolls.

The dairy's production shift to focusing on one cheese type per day allowed for the use of larger, heavier rolls of packaging material, weighing up to 30 kg. Previously, frequent changes of smaller rolls required manual handling, often by two employees, leading to physical strain and potential back injuries.

Hovmand's INOX 90 S model, equipped with a 90-degree rotating roll manipulator, enables single employees to easily lift, turn, and insert these heavy rolls into the packaging machinery. This significantly reduces downtime and the need for multiple roll changes throughout the day, while prioritizing worker well-being.

Henrik Kotzan, head of purchasing, described the lifter as "worth every cent" and highlighted its stainless steel construction, a critical requirement for food production facilities. The Hovmand lifter has proven to be an effective solution, improving workflows and contributing to cost savings.
