Forestry contractor Alvar Wärn has updated his wood chipping operation by acquiring a new Kesla C645 chipper and a Valtra T234 tractor.

Wärn, who began wood chipping six years ago after converting his farm's barn into a storage facility for forestry equipment, has prior experience with Kesla machinery. His previous C645 chipper had accumulated over 7,000 tractor hours.

The new chipper introduces improvements in chip quality and usability. Wärn notes that the updated rotor design produces more uniform chips, and blade changes are easier. A higher blade workbench and an improved feed table design facilitate smoother operations. The unit processes approximately 80–120 cubic meters of chips per hour.

Wärn provides chipping services within a 100-mile radius for farms and private companies, occasionally subcontracting for large energy producers. The tractor-operated, trailer-mounted chipper is particularly effective in locations where truck-mounted chippers cannot access due to soft or sloped terrain.

Kesla's customer support and spare parts availability have been satisfactory, according to Wärn, who primarily handles maintenance and repairs himself.
