Alvarez & Marsal appoints Santosh Kamath to lead India clean energy practice
Alvarez & Marsal has hired former KPMG partner Santosh Kamath as Managing Director to strengthen its energy transition advisory services in India.

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has appointed Santosh Kamath as Managing Director to bolster its energy transition and clean energy practice in India. The move aims to expand the firm’s capabilities in a market undergoing rapid shifts in energy policy and investment priorities.
Kamath brings over two decades of experience in the energy sector, including a tenure as a partner in KPMG’s energy practice where he focused on renewable energy. His background involves advising government bodies on policy, investors on capital allocation, and corporations on navigating complex business transitions.
Vikram Utamsingh, Country Leader for A&M India, stated that the appointment aligns with the firm’s strategy to increase its market footprint in anticipation of significant sector investment over the next decade. Management expects Kamath’s industry relationships to provide clients with practical solutions for navigating energy-related disruptions.
An alumnus of IIT Bombay and IIM Bangalore, Kamath joins the firm during a period where companies are increasingly seeking operational guidance to manage the risks and opportunities of the global shift toward decarbonization.
