Alvarez & Marsal Expands Sports, Media & Entertainment Business, Appoints Three Managing Directors
Alvarez & Marsal has formally established a dedicated Sports, Media & Entertainment (SM&E) industry group and appointed three Managing Directors to bolster its expertise.

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) has expanded its media and entertainment platform to formally include sports, establishing a dedicated Sports, Media & Entertainment (SM&E) Industry Group. The move aims to address the growing convergence between these sectors and is supported by the appointment of three new Managing Directors: Jeff Shaffer will lead the expanded group, joined by Greg Merchant, Eddie Gonzales, and Gregory Jensen.
The expansion comes as sports, media, entertainment, and technology increasingly intertwine. A&M aims to assist clients in navigating challenges such as evolving consumer behavior, new distribution models, rising content and rights costs, and rapid technological advancements. The initiative focuses on helping SM&E companies improve performance, modernize operations, and accelerate value creation.

Greg Merchant brings over 25 years of experience across sports and media. Eddie Gonzales has over 25 years of experience in media, entertainment, and software. Gregory Jensen has over 15 years of experience in digital modernization and technology transformation. Their collective expertise will support clients facing complex industry challenges.
