Alvarez & Marsal Launches Mass Torts Practice
Alvarez & Marsal has launched a new practice dedicated to the economic impact of mass torts. Timothy Raab has been appointed Managing Director and Practice Leader.

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), a global professional services firm, has established a new Mass Torts practice within its Disputes and Investigations offering. The new service line aims to assist parties involved in litigation, including companies, special masters, and bankruptcy estates, in forecasting and assessing the financial impact of mass tort claims.
Timothy Raab, based in Washington D.C., has been appointed Managing Director and Practice Leader for North America. Raab brings over two decades of experience in high-profile mass tort matters, covering areas such as product liability, toxic torts, and natural disaster litigation. His expertise lies in designing and managing mass tort settlement trusts, with his work on estimation methodologies having facilitated the distribution of billions of dollars in indemnity payments.
The Mass Torts practice will collaborate with Special Masters and Trustees on designing and implementing resolution programs to ensure equitable compensation for individuals and businesses affected by mass disaster torts. Additionally, the practice will advise private equity firms and hedge funds on valuing potential mass tort liabilities during merger and acquisition transactions.
This expansion broadens A&M's capabilities in addressing complex litigation and financial challenges. Raab previously led the Mass Torts practice at Ankura Consulting Group. His appointment signifies the firm's strategic growth in specialized advisory services.
