Alvotech names new Chief Operating Officer
Alvotech has appointed Faysal Kalmoua as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Hafrun Fridriksdottir is stepping down from her role at the company.
Alvotech, a global biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacture of biosimilar medicines, announced leadership changes. Faysal Kalmoua has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO). Kalmoua joined Alvotech earlier this year as Head of Portfolio and Project Management and has served on the company's Board of Directors since 2020.
Hafrun Fridriksdottir is departing from her role as COO. Her departure follows the resubmission of the Biologics License Application (BLA) for AVT02, Alvotech's proposed high-concentration interchangeable biosimilar to Humira (adalimumab).
The company focuses on developing and manufacturing biosimilar medicines for patients worldwide, aiming to be a global leader by delivering high-quality, cost-effective products. Alvotech's pipeline includes eight disclosed biosimilar candidates targeting conditions such as autoimmune disorders, eye disorders, osteoporosis, respiratory disease, and cancer.
Alvotech has established strategic commercial partnerships to ensure global reach. These partnerships cover markets including the United States, Europe, Japan, China, other Asian countries, and significant regions in South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
