Alzheimer Research Initiative Adds Members to Scientific Advisory Board
The Alzheimer Forschung Initiative (AFI) has appointed three new members, Professor Judith Alferink, Professor Kathrin Finke, and Professor Markus Morawski, to its Scientific Advisory Board.

The non-profit Alzheimer Forschung Initiative (AFI) announced on May 12, 2022, that its Scientific Advisory Board has been strengthened with the addition of three new members: Professor Judith Alferink, Professor Kathrin Finke, and Professor Markus Morawski.
Professor Alferink, Chief Physician for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Alexianer Münster GmbH, specializes in the role of the immune system in Alzheimer's disease and depression. Her research on the subject has previously received funding from AFI.
Professor Finke, Psychological Director of the Memory Center at Jena University Hospital, focuses on research into attention and working memory in healthy aging and in patients at risk for dementia. Her work aims to develop diagnostic methods and non-pharmacological interventions.
Professor Morawski, a neuropathologist and brain researcher at the Paul-Erlich-Institut in Leipzig, has conducted over 20 years of research on Alzheimer's disease, with a focus on neuroprotection and the role of iron in neurodegenerative conditions. AFI has supported two of his research projects.
The Scientific Advisory Board comprises renowned Alzheimer's researchers who volunteer their time to evaluate funding applications submitted to AFI. The board's evaluations ensure that AFI-funded research projects meet high scientific standards.
