Amadeus Achieves IATA Level 3 NDC Certification as Aggregator
Amadeus IT Group has secured Level 3 NDC certification from IATA as an aggregator, adding to its existing certification as an IT provider. This dual certification allows Amadeus to distribute airline NDC offers to travel sellers.
Amadeus IT Group has achieved Level 3 New Distribution Capability (NDC) certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in its role as an aggregator. This achievement, combined with its existing Level 3 certification as an IT provider, positions Amadeus as one of the first companies to hold both high-level certifications.
The Level 3 certification signifies the highest standard, recognizing a company's capability to manage both offer and order processes. For Amadeus, this means it can now consume NDC offers from airlines and distribute them effectively to travel sellers, a crucial step in advancing NDC adoption within the travel industry.
Amadeus has been working with online travel agency Travix through its NDC-X program to drive NDC-compliant distribution. Travix joined the initiative earlier in 2018. This dual certification enables Amadeus to scale the distribution of new airline content to its global network of travel sellers.
Industry stakeholders, including IATA representatives, have noted that this certification underscores Amadeus' commitment to industrializing NDC. This supports a new model for airline retailing aimed at enhancing the customer shopping experience. Amadeus first obtained its Level 3 IT provider certification in 2016 and has since renewed it for the latest NDC standard version.
