Amadeus acquires travel payments expert Voxel
Amadeus IT Group has acquired Voxel, a provider of electronic invoicing and B2B payment solutions for the travel industry. The deal strengthens Amadeus' payments capabilities.
Amadeus IT Group announced on March 11, 2024, its acquisition of Voxel, a company specializing in electronic invoicing and business-to-business payment solutions for travel sellers, hotels, and other industry players. The transaction is aimed at enhancing the payment experience across the travel ecosystem.
The acquisition integrates Voxel's offerings with Amadeus' existing payment business, Outpayce. This expansion is expected to provide travel sellers with a wider range of payment services and more automated invoice management. Amadeus also anticipates that the integration will improve the business travel experience for corporate clients, streamlining processes from booking to expense management.
Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Barcelona, Voxel brings over 200 employees and a platform that supports more than 50,000 hotels and 1,000 tour operators and travel companies across 100 countries. The company processes over 100 million transactions annually.
Amadeus stated that the combination of technologies and expertise will help reduce manual processes within the travel industry and facilitate smoother, more integrated payments for all stakeholders. The acquisition is now closed.
