Amadeus and Avinor Accelerate Airport Innovation Through Co-Development
Airport operator Avinor and technology firm Amadeus have launched a new co-innovation model to speed up the deployment of new technologies and enhance the passenger experience.

Norwegian airport operator Avinor and travel technology company Amadeus IT Group have initiated a co-development project aimed at improving operations and the passenger journey across Norway's airports. The collaboration utilizes Amadeus' Professional Services Suite to accelerate the evolution of custom technology solutions.
Avinor, which manages 43 airports, seeks to expedite technological advancements to meet growing passenger expectations for digital services. Moving away from lengthy traditional procurement cycles, Avinor selected a co-innovation approach where it actively participates in shaping and developing new solutions alongside Amadeus' experts.
The core of the collaboration focuses on rapid prototyping and delivering impact through technology more quickly. Key areas include improvements in baggage handling and passenger processing. Notably, the project is developing data exchange capabilities to facilitate seamless information sharing between airlines and other stakeholders within the airport ecosystem.
Specific examples of development efforts include better serving passengers requiring special assistance through enhanced data insights and replacing outdated, slow communication methods with modern digital solutions to streamline operational information flow.
Amadeus was chosen as a partner due to its broad presence across the travel industry and its capacity to apply emerging technologies like AI and cloud services within airport environments. This partnership is expected to yield significant benefits for both Avinor and its passengers.
