Amadeus IT Group, a major player in travel technology, has announced a partnership with Setoo, an insurance-as-a-service platform. This collaboration will integrate Setoo's artificial intelligence-powered solutions into the Amadeus Travel Platform, enabling travel agents to offer personalized insurance products to travelers.
The new offering aims to cover a range of travel disruptions, including flight delays, lost luggage, and adverse weather conditions. Initially launching in nine European markets, the partnership seeks to provide travelers with more relevant and adaptable insurance coverage directly at the point of booking.
Setoo's platform includes not only traditional insurance options but also parametric insurance products. These products, such as coverage for flight delays or specific weather events, are triggered automatically when predefined conditions are met, based on external data feeds. Compensation is reportedly processed directly to the traveler's credit card, simplifying the claims process.
Travel agents using the Amadeus Travel Platform will be able to access and offer Setoo's insurance products through a single interface. This integration is expected to enhance the customer shopping experience and allow for the quicker development of new insurance products based on feedback from travel agents and evolving traveler needs.
