Amadeus Increases Female Inventor Representation to 20%

Amadeus IT Group has reported an increase in the proportion of women among its inventors, reaching 20%. This figure exceeds the global average of 17% cited for international patent applications and is notably higher than the less than 10% of women inventors typically found in computer technology fields. The company attributes this progress to deliberate efforts to create conditions that encourage broader participation in innovation across the organization.

Dublin, Ireland – The travel technology provider has implemented several strategies to foster a more inclusive environment for invention. A key initiative involves participation in ADAPT (Advancing Diversity Across Patent Teams), a global community focused on increasing diversity within the intellectual property profession. Through this partnership, Amadeus exchanges resources, shares best practices, and engages in mentoring programs aimed at students interested in IP law and inventorship diversity.

Amadeus emphasized that innovation thrives when individuals from all backgrounds feel supported and respected. The company highlights the role of leadership in shaping an environment conducive to sharing ideas. Carol Borg, Amadeus's CFO and Executive Sponsor of the global Amadeus Women's Network, stated, "Diversity and inclusion are not just values for us—they are essential to our culture and to our success."

The company's commitment to diversity has been recognized through its inclusion on the Financial Times's "Diversity Leaders List" for seven consecutive years and Forbes' "World’s Top Companies for Women 2025." These accolades reflect Amadeus's ongoing efforts to promote equality and inclusivity in its workplace, which the company believes directly contributes to its innovative output.
