Amadeus IT Group is launching its Nevio system, aimed at transforming airline revenue management within the modern retailing landscape. This evolution seeks to enable more flexible and traveler-centric pricing and offer strategies, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

Airline needs have shifted as the industry moves toward modern retailing. According to an Amadeus report, 34% of airlines identified modernizing revenue management strategies as a top five technological priority. Nevio intends to maximize traveler revenue contribution by providing accurate demand forecasts and leveraging customer price sensitivity.

The system marks a shift from traditional flight-centric approaches to traveler-centricity. This involves moving from static booking classes and filed fares to optimized offers that are continuously created and priced. Airlines are encouraged to adopt more flexible architectures to meet dynamic market needs and sell offerings at desired price points.

Amadeus has previously introduced techniques like active forecast adjustment (AFA), which helps airlines quickly adapt to changes in market demand. A pilot with SAS demonstrated that AFA significantly improved forecast accuracy. In the current market, characterized by more seasonal and spontaneous demand, this adaptability is crucial for developing pricing strategies.

Looking ahead, Amadeus is focusing on integrating AI and data science into revenue management. The company emphasizes the importance of a hybrid approach combining machine learning with human expertise. This method improves data efficiency, reliability, and transparency in AI models. Price optimization based on the context of each shopping session allows for the delivery of more tailored and relevant offers to individual travelers.
