Amadeus Research Highlights Four Key Friction Points for Business Travelers
Amadeus IT Group's research identifies four recurring pain points causing stress for business travelers: finding accommodation, comparing prices, understanding fees, and airport transit.

Amadeus IT Group has released research indicating that business travelers experience significant friction and stress during their journeys, often more so than leisure travelers. The study highlights four primary areas of concern: locating suitable accommodation, comparing prices effectively, understanding total costs including fees and taxes, and managing smooth transit to and from airports.
The "Friction Removed" research project from Amadeus reveals that these issues lead to wasted time, increased anxiety, and reduced productivity for those traveling for work. Despite strong resilience and projected growth in global business travel spending, addressing these friction points presents a clear opportunity for the travel industry to improve the end-to-end experience.
Key findings show that finding accommodation is a major distress point for 45% of business travelers, who struggle to balance factors like location, company policy, and availability. Price comparison across multiple sites causes stress for 44%, while 42% find navigating additional fees and taxes frustrating. Furthermore, 44% identify transit to and from airports as a significant stressor.
Amadeus aims to mitigate these challenges through its technology solutions, particularly Amadeus Cytric. This platform is designed to streamline the business travel experience by consolidating multi-source content into a single interface, offering side-by-side price comparisons, and providing AI-powered recommendations aligned with corporate policies. The system also facilitates accommodation searches and transit coordination, striving to remove friction points throughout the entire business trip.
