Amadeus to Acquire IDEMIA Public Security for €1.2 Billion

Amadeus IT Group, a technology provider for the travel industry, announced its intention to acquire IDEMIA Public Security (IPS). The transaction is valued at €1.2 billion.

The acquisition is expected to enhance Amadeus' offerings in biometric identification for use at airports and border control points. This move is intended to facilitate more seamless end-to-end travel journeys.

This potential acquisition follows a series of strategic moves by Amadeus. In February 2026, the company acquired SkyLink to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence in travel. Amadeus has also recently expanded its distribution agreements with airlines such as Transavia and provided technology for the relaunch of Pan American World Airways.

Amadeus has also strengthened its relationship with Aeropuertos Mexicanos and initiated collaboration with ICAO. The company's strategy appears focused on leveraging technology and strategic acquisitions to broaden its market presence and enhance its service portfolio within the global travel ecosystem.
