Amazon Bedrock Offers Tools for Managing Model Lifecycle

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched updates for its Amazon Bedrock AI service, providing customers with enhanced tools to manage the lifecycle of foundation models (FMs). These updates are designed to offer greater predictability and control as new model versions are released.

The service regularly introduces new FM versions with improved capabilities, accuracy, and safety. Understanding the different stages of a model's lifecycle is crucial for customers to effectively plan and manage their AI applications built on Bedrock.

Models on Amazon Bedrock can exist in one of three states: Active, Legacy, or End-of-Life (EOL). These statuses are visible within the Amazon Bedrock console and through API responses. AWS has also implemented a new extended access feature, allowing customers to test upcoming model versions before they become standard.

The goal is to facilitate smooth transitions to newer models without disrupting customers' AI applications. Managing these model transitions effectively is key to ensuring the continuous operation of AI systems.
