Amazon Blocks Meta's AI Agent Muse From Shopping

Amazon has begun blocking Meta's AI agent, Muse, from making purchases on its platform on behalf of users. According to GeekWire, the blocks started appearing on Sunday.

Pop-up messages informed Muse users that "continued access by an unauthorized AI agent violates Amazon's Conditions of Use, to which our customers have agreed." Amazon stated that Meta did not notify the company that Muse would be accessing its store.

The e-commerce giant also cited privacy and security concerns. Amazon indicated that Muse failed to identify itself when browsing and appeared to capture customer credentials. Amazon maintains that third-party applications offering to make purchases on behalf of customers must adhere to specific guidelines.

The move highlights ongoing tensions between AI agents and e-commerce platforms. Amazon's action signals its intent to safeguard customer data and its platform's integrity from unauthorized AI operations.
