Amazon Cloud Executive Dave Brown Departs After 18 Years
Dave Brown, a senior executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS), is leaving the company at the end of this month after nearly 19 years. He will be succeeded by Dave Treadwell from Amazon's e-commerce division.

Dave Brown, a long-serving senior executive in Amazon's cloud computing unit, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is departing the company. Brown plans to leave at the end of July after nearly 19 years with the tech giant, AWS CEO Matt Garman announced in a memo to staff.
Garman stated that Dave Treadwell, currently a high-level executive in Amazon's e-commerce division, will replace Brown. Treadwell is expected to bring extensive experience to the role. Garman expressed gratitude for Brown's contributions to building and developing AWS' technology, business, and teams.
Brown joined AWS in its early stages and was instrumental in the development of EC2, one of Amazon's foundational cloud services that provides virtual servers. His responsibilities later expanded to include AWS' compute and machine learning services, such as Bedrock and SageMaker. Brown was also considered part of Amazon CEO Andy Jassy's influential "S-team."
Brown's departure occurs as AWS experiences robust demand for artificial intelligence services, which contributed to a 28% revenue increase in the first quarter. Cloud competitors Microsoft and Google are also seeing significant growth driven by AI-related spending.
