Amazon cuts 250 jobs in Devices and Services division

Amazon has reduced its workforce by approximately 250 positions within its Devices and Services unit following a recent series of product launches.

29 October 2026

Amazon confirmed on Wednesday that it has initiated staff reductions within its Devices and Services division, affecting roughly 250 employees. The layoffs, primarily impacting software development roles, were attributed by the company to a need for operational efficiency and alignment with its current product roadmap.

The staff reductions follow a period of heavy product activity for the company, including the introduction of new Kindle models and Alexa-enabled smart home devices. According to internal communications shared by HR Vice President Cherie Robinson, the decision resulted from a comprehensive review of the organization’s structure.

This move comes shortly after Amazon cut approximately 1,000 jobs within its core retail division earlier this month. The company remains under investor scrutiny as it prepares to release its third-quarter financial results.
