Amazon Delivery Driver Smart Glasses Reportedly Take Photos 'Almost Constantly'

Amazon delivery drivers may soon be equipped with smart glasses that reportedly capture images of their surroundings almost constantly. According to a Bloomberg report, the glasses could take 'several thousand captures in a single driver's typical shift.' Amazon plans to upload this data to its AI Wellspring platform.

When questioned about whether customers could opt-out of this photo capture, Amazon's Viraj Chatterjee told Bloomberg, 'We haven't thought about that.' This response has amplified concerns regarding privacy implications.

Chatterjee claimed that Amazon is only using the data from the glasses to 'enhance the delivery process.' He added, 'The intent has never been surveillance or similar activities.' The company states the goal is to use the visual data to improve delivery efficiency and safety.
