Amazon EC2 G5g instances enable cloud streaming of Android games
Amazon Web Services introduces a new method for streaming Android games to mobile devices using Graviton-based EC2 G5g instances. The solution offers cost savings and improved performance for game streaming.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced a new method for streaming Android games from the cloud to mobile devices. This new approach utilizes Amazon EC2 G5g instances, powered by AWS Graviton processors, offering significant cost savings and enhanced performance for game streaming.
Cloud-based game streaming is an emerging technology that allows high-quality games to be played on less powerful and less expensive devices. This reduces device battery consumption and storage requirements, thereby broadening access to high-end gaming experiences.
A key component of the solution is the Anbox Cloud Appliance, which can be run within the Amazon EC2 environment. Combined with the Graviton-based EC2 G5g instances, which are up to 30% more cost-effective per hour per game stream compared to x86-based instances, companies can serve a wide customer base efficiently.
According to AWS, Graviton-based instances use fewer compute resources than x86-based alternatives due to their 64-bit Arm architecture. Testing involved the demanding game Genshin Impact, streamed to a mobile device via a Firefox browser utilizing a G5g instance.
