Amazon EC2 G7 Instances Enhance AI and Graphics Performance

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the general availability of its new Amazon EC2 G7 instances, designed to deliver high-performance GPU acceleration for artificial intelligence inference, graphics, and data analytics.

AWS is the first major cloud provider to support NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs. The G7 instances utilize these GPUs alongside sixth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. According to AWS, they offer up to 4.6 times higher AI inference performance and 2.1 times better graphics performance compared to the previous generation G6 instances.

The new instances are suitable for a wide range of GPU-accelerated workloads, including AI inference, graphics rendering, video transcoding, spatial computing, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and data analytics. They also provide enhancements in GPU memory capacity and bandwidth compared to G6 instances.

Furthermore, G7 instances feature high-performance networking with up to 700 Gbps of throughput, a sevenfold increase over G6 instances. This is crucial for low-latency, high-bandwidth demands in AI, graphics-intensive applications, and GPU-accelerated data analytics. The new instances also support faster storage options for quicker data processing.
