Amazon is in discussions to acquire AI startup Decart for an estimated $7 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter. The deal could be finalized soon if negotiations proceed smoothly and no other bidders emerge.
San Francisco-based Decart focuses on developing cross-chip adaptation software, designed to help developers transition seamlessly between different AI chips. This underlying software capability is becoming increasingly critical as major tech companies compete for computing power resources.
Decart has previously raised over $400 million from venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, and Radical Ventures, according to data from PitchBook. In a funding round in May, the company was valued at nearly $4 billion.
Previous reports indicated that Anthropic had also explored acquiring Decart for approximately $6 billion in August, but later abandoned those acquisition plans in September.
