Amazon India Investigates Fatal Fire at Partner Warehouse
Amazon India has launched an internal investigation into a fire at a third-party delivery partner's warehouse in Uttarakhand, which killed two workers last month. The probe follows reports of inadequate fire safety measures at the facility.

Ecommerce giant Amazon India has reportedly initiated an internal investigation into a fire that occurred at a facility operated by its third-party delivery partner, M&M Logistics Solutions, in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. The incident on June 5 resulted in the deaths of two workers.
According to reports, Amazon stated it will take "appropriate action" against M&M Logistics Solutions once the police investigation is complete. The building where the fire broke out allegedly lacked a valid fire safety clearance, fire alarm, and proper emergency exits.
M&M Logistics Solutions manages 45 Amazon delivery centers across 21 cities in northern India. Amazon's policies require vendors to maintain safe working conditions, with potential consequences including suspension or termination for violations of safety standards.
The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety within Amazon's Indian operations. The Amazon India Workers Union has called for a judicial inquiry, labeling the event a "grave failure of workplace safety and protection of human dignity."
This event is the latest in a series of warehouse fires that have questioned safety standards within the broader e-commerce supply chain in India.
