Amazon Kendra enhances AstraZeneca Japan's enterprise search
Amazon Web Services' Kendra service is being used to improve AstraZeneca Japan's enterprise search capabilities and regulatory compliance. The solution helps sales representatives find up-to-date and validated marketing content.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has partnered with AstraZeneca Japan (AZKK) to enhance its enterprise search capabilities and regulatory compliance using Amazon Kendra. Ethical marketing compliance is critical for pharmaceutical companies operating in Japan due to stringent regulations.
AZKK sales representatives face the challenge of searching for the most recent and validated marketing content to engage with customers compliantly. An AWS and AZKK proof of concept implemented Amazon Kendra, an intelligent, machine learning-powered search service that re-imagines enterprise search.
The service allows employees to easily find content scattered across multiple repositories. Amazon Kendra supports semantic search in multiple languages, including Japanese, and its ability to index and search Microsoft Excel documents was a key requirement for AZKK. The service's event-driven connectors enable near real-time updates to Kendra's index.
The solution aims to ensure sales personnel can quickly access current and validated information, thereby supporting compliance and patient well-being.
