Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced an update to its Amazon Q Developer software development agent. The newly released agent has achieved state-of-the-art performance, scoring 49% on the SWTBench Verified benchmark and 66% on the SWEBench Verified benchmark, placing it among the top-ranking models.
The agent now features enhanced planning and reasoning tools, leveraging the full capacity of advanced models. Operating within a dedicated environment with integrated access to modern Integrated Development Environment (IDE) functionalities, it can generate multiple solution candidates for a given problem, select the most promising one, and deliver higher quality code to developers.
AWS states that this update aims to accelerate development team velocity and reduce debugging time. The improved agent is designed to provide more reliable suggestions, allowing developers to concentrate on higher-level design and innovation while the agent handles more routine coding tasks with increased accuracy.
The updated software development agent for Amazon Q Developer is available across all AWS Regions where Amazon Q is supported. Developers can begin using it by typing '/dev' into the Q chat window within Visual Studio Code or JetBrains IDEs where the Amazon Q Developer plugin is installed.
