OKX-ICE, a joint venture between cryptocurrency exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, is facing significant corporate resistance to its planned US tokenized-stock platform. According to a November 2 notice, 49 of the 62 companies initially selected for the pilot program have formally objected to their participation.

The proposed venue aims to facilitate 24-hour trading of tokenized shares using stablecoins, leveraging a five-year innovation exemption granted by the US Securities and Exchange Commission in September 2026. This regulatory relief is conditional, requiring compliance with specific recordkeeping and investor protection standards.

While issuer objections do not legally prevent secondary trading under existing US securities laws, venues utilizing the exemption may be forced to delist objecting companies to remain compliant with the pilot's terms. Industry analysts note that concerns often center on how tokenized structures handle shareholder rights, such as voting and dividends, which frequently rely on platform-level smart contracts rather than direct shareholder status.
