Amazon to Sell Kindle Page-Turn Buttons for $35

Amazon has released its latest Kindle e-reader lineup, featuring a ground-up redesign that notably omits physical page-turn buttons. This design choice has prompted the company to offer external accessories for users who miss the tactile feedback of dedicated buttons.

The company is now selling a $35 Bluetooth "Kindle Clicker" designed solely for turning pages. This accessory is compatible with all current Kindle models and those released from 2024 onward. Additionally, an $80 "Page-Turn Cover" is available, though its button functionality is restricted to specific "Special Edition" models.

The removal of physical buttons has been a gradual process for Kindle, starting over a decade ago. The discontinuation of the Oasis model in October 2024 marked the end of Kindle devices sold with integrated physical page-turn buttons. Amazon had previously introduced a "Double Tap to Page Turn" gesture, but this only allows forward page progression.

Amazon reports that Kindle sales have experienced double-digit growth globally for three consecutive years. The new Kindle models feature improvements such as increased battery life, faster page-opening speeds, and construction using recycled materials. The base model starts at $150, with higher-end versions like the Paperwhite and Colorsoft ranging from $200 to $320. These devices also boast a completely flat front display, similar to modern smartphones, eliminating bezels.
