Amazon Web Services Expands MSK Express Broker Support to Cape Town and Taipei
Amazon has introduced its Express broker type for Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK) in the Cape Town and Taipei AWS regions.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has expanded the availability of its provisioned Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK) service by adding support for Express brokers in the Cape Town and Taipei regions. This move provides users in these geographical areas with access to higher-performance streaming capabilities.
Express brokers are engineered to address performance bottlenecks associated with standard Apache Kafka clusters. AWS claims that this broker type offers up to three times higher throughput, faster scaling capabilities, and a 90% reduction in recovery times during service interruptions. The service is designed for full compatibility with existing Kafka APIs, allowing organizations to migrate without modifying their client applications.
The deployment in these specific regions aligns with AWS’s broader strategy of extending its managed infrastructure footprint. Developers and data architects can now provision these clusters directly through the AWS management console or via the Amazon CLI.
