Amazon's drone deliveries to expand to nearly 500 US cities

Amazon announced plans to significantly expand its Prime Air drone delivery service, aiming to reach nearly 500 cities and towns across the United States by the end of 2024. This expansion represents a sixfold increase in the service's current operational footprint.

The company is set to launch drone deliveries in key metropolitan areas including Chicago, Illinois; Syracuse, New York; Cleveland, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; and Boise, Idaho. Amazon indicated that further communities will be added later in the year.

These new locations will join the 11 existing sites where Prime Air currently operates. Each delivery site is designed to serve an approximate area of 175 square miles, with the objective of providing rapid package delivery to customers.

The expansion is part of Amazon's ongoing strategy to enhance its logistics network and offer faster delivery solutions to a broader customer base.
