Amazon's Grocery and Quick Commerce Unit Reports Rs 1,158 Crore Loss in FY26
Amazon Retail, the company's quick commerce and grocery arm, posted a loss of Rs 1,158.3 crore in fiscal year 2026, a 194% increase from the previous year.

Amazon Retail, the U.S. e-commerce giant's Indian arm for quick commerce and grocery delivery, reported a significant financial setback in fiscal year 2026. The unit incurred a loss of Rs 1,158.3 crore (approximately $139 million USD), marking a 194% increase compared to the Rs 394.2 crore loss in the prior fiscal year.
The widening loss occurred despite a substantial 50% surge in revenue from operations, which reached Rs 3,065.1 crore. This growth took place amidst intensifying competition from rivals like Blinkit, Instamart, and Zepto, as well as new entrants like Flipkart Minutes.
Total expenses for Amazon Retail outpaced revenue growth, escalating by 73% to Rs 4,238.7 crore. Key cost drivers included a 74% increase in procurement costs to Rs 3,090.5 crore and a 130% jump in delivery charges to Rs 528.6 crore. Legal expenses also saw a sharp rise of 157% to Rs 441.9 crore.
Despite the financial challenges, Amazon has signaled continued commitment to the Indian quick commerce market, announcing plans to expand its Amazon Now service to over 120 cities and increase its dark store footprint. The company is reportedly planning a $3 billion investment in its Indian quick commerce business by 2030, aiming to capitalize on the rapidly growing market.
