Amazon has added 29 new satellites to its low Earth orbit broadband constellation. The launch, conducted by United Launch Alliance (ULA) on July 2, successfully placed the satellites into their planned orbits.

The Atlas V rocket carrying the satellites lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida early on Thursday morning. ULA confirmed the successful deployment approximately 70 minutes after liftoff.

The Kuiper constellation is Amazon's ambitious project to deploy approximately 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit to provide global broadband internet access. This initiative places Amazon in direct competition with SpaceX's Starlink network, which currently operates thousands of satellites.

With this latest launch, Amazon has now sent around 400 Kuiper satellites into space across 15 missions. The company has utilized a variety of launch vehicles, including ULA's Atlas V, SpaceX's Falcon 9, and Arianespace's Ariane 6, to deploy its satellites.

The 29 satellites launched on this mission weighed approximately 18 tons, matching the heaviest payload ever carried by an Atlas V rocket.
