Ambrosia Energy to Build 10 GWh Battery Factory in Texas

Ambrosia Energy has commenced the construction of a 10 gigawatt-hour battery factory near Austin, Texas. The company's co-founder and CEO, Ben Longmier, announced the project at the TechCrunch Disrupt event.

The new facility will focus on manufacturing batteries specifically designed for off-grid data centers. These battery systems are intended to provide a more reliable and consistent supply of renewable energy, such as solar power, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

According to Longmier, the factory's production capacity will enable the construction of approximately 300 megawatts of power plant capacity annually at the company's field sites. This supports the goal of delivering stable power to data centers not connected to the traditional grid.

The choice of Texas as the factory's location was based on several strategic factors, including the region's supportive tech ecosystem and necessary infrastructure. The project is expected to create jobs and contribute to the local economy while promoting cleaner energy solutions for critical digital infrastructure.
