AMD CEO to Visit South Korea for Talks with Samsung
Sources indicate AMD CEO Lisa Su will travel to South Korea next month to meet with Samsung Electronics leadership to discuss potential collaborations.
AMD CEO Lisa Su is expected to visit South Korea next month for meetings with Samsung Electronics executives, according to reports. The discussions are anticipated to cover areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) chips and technological cooperation.
Samsung is reportedly being considered as a potential supplier for AMD's upcoming High Bandwidth Memory 4 (HBM4) chips. South Korea is a global center for semiconductor manufacturing, hosting major memory chip makers like Samsung and SK Hynix.
The two companies have engaged in discussions previously. In March, AMD and Samsung signed a memorandum of understanding concerning AI memory and computing technology. At that time, speculation suggested Samsung would be a preferred supplier for AMD's AI accelerator HBM4 chips.
During her visit to South Korea, Su may also meet with local NPU (Neural Processing Unit) companies and their CEOs.
