AMD EPYC 9006 Server CPU Production Capacity Sold Out Through 2027
According to channel sources, AMD's sixth-generation EPYC 9006 server processor production capacity for 2027 is already sold out. The company is now accepting orders for 2028 production.
Semiconductor manufacturer AMD is experiencing significant demand for its latest server processors. Recent channel reports indicate that the production capacity for AMD's sixth-generation EPYC 9006 series server processors for the year 2027 has been completely sold out. Consequently, the company has begun accepting orders for its 2028 production.
The EPYC 9006 series, codenamed Venice, includes 31 different models with core counts ranging from 8 to 256. These processors utilize the Zen 6 and Zen 6c architectures and are designed for various applications such as cloud computing, enterprise servers, AI hosts, and high-performance computing (HPC).
The SP7 platform, in particular, is targeted at high-end data centers. It supports 16 memory channels for DDR5 memory, including MRDIMM and RDIMM types, and can handle speeds up to DDR5-12800. The platform also offers 96 PCIe 6.0 lanes, with a default power range of 400W to 600W.
Analysts project strong performance for the series. Morgan Stanley estimates that shipments of the Venice processors could reach 6.75 million units in 2027. This demand is expected to provide substantial support for AMD's server business in the coming years.
