Sunnyvale, Calif. – At its "Advancing AI 2026" event in San Francisco, AMD confirmed plans to release its EPYC Venice-X processor in 2027. The new chip is designed to handle demanding high-performance computing and artificial intelligence workloads.
The anticipated Venice-X processor will feature 176 "Zen 6" architecture cores, supporting 342 threads, with clock speeds projected to exceed 5 GHz. AMD is integrating its 3D V-Cache technology, promising a 50% increase in cache addressable per core over previous generations. This enhancement is expected to significantly boost performance for technical computing and HPC applications. Microsoft Azure is slated to deploy the Venice-X processors within its Azure HXv2 instances next year, signaling a key partnership for cloud-based high-performance computing. This collaboration highlights the processor's potential in enterprise cloud environments. Additionally, AMD unveiled the EPYC Verano processor, specifically tailored for AI agents. A key advancement for Verano is its support for the new SOCAMM2 memory form factor. This compact solution leverages LPDDR5X DRAM modules for high bandwidth, capacity, and energy efficiency, aiming to maximize memory density.
