AMD has unveiled its new EPYC 9006 series of server processors, featuring up to 256 cores. The "Venice" codenamed series offers 31 distinct SKUs, with prices ranging from $700 to $14,904.
The flagship model, EPYC 9996, is equipped with 256 Zen 4 cores and 512 threads, positioning it as one of AMD's highest core-count single-socket x86 server processors. This top-tier CPU operates at a base frequency of 2.55 GHz, boosts to 4.1 GHz, and has a TDP of 600W.
The new EPYC 9006 processors are targeted at demanding server workloads, including high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence, and data center applications. The 256-core variant provides a substantial increase in processing power, allowing for greater efficiency in handling complex tasks within a single server.
