AMD to Invest Up to $5 Billion in AI Company Anthropic
AMD announced Wednesday it will invest up to $5 billion in AI company Anthropic, while also helping expand the firm's computing power.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has announced plans to invest up to $5 billion in artificial intelligence company Anthropic. The agreement, revealed on Wednesday, will see AMD supply crucial hardware to bolster Anthropic's AI model development.
As part of the deal, Anthropic will utilize up to 2 gigawatts of AMD's Instinct MI450 AI GPUs. These will be deployed using AMD's new Helios rack-scale system, designed for large-scale AI workloads.
The initial deployment of 1 gigawatt is scheduled for the first half of 2027. This move comes as Anthropic seeks to scale its operations, having recently secured data center capacity with companies like SpaceX and TeraWulf, and also having established AI infrastructure deals with tech giants such as Google, Amazon, and Broadcom.
