AMD's upcoming Venice processor has shown a performance advantage of about 20% over Nvidia's Vera processor in recent tests conducted under identical conditions. This result surpassed AMD's own earlier projections, which had estimated a performance gap closer to 10%.
The findings were shared by Ravi Kuppuswany, AMD's Vice President of Computing and Enterprise Solutions, during the Advancing AI 2026 event. The disclosure followed Nvidia's release of benchmark results for its Vera CPU using the SPEC CPU 2026 standard.
AMD utilized Nvidia's publicly provided configurations as a basis to run SPEC tests on its new Zen 6 'Venice' CPU. Kuppuswany indicated that the observed 20% performance lead was achieved without complete system tuning, suggesting potential for further gains.
According to AMD's own presentation materials, the Venice processor offers 2.2 times higher throughput and 1.2 times faster single-core performance compared to Vera. These figures highlight the competitive positioning of AMD's new architecture in the high-performance computing market.
