American Council of Learned Societies Announces 2026 Digital Justice Grantees

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) has announced the recipients of its 2026 Digital Justice Grants. The $800,000 in funding will support community-led and publicly engaged digital projects across the humanities and social sciences.

The program, made possible by a grant from the Mellon Foundation, supports digital projects that critically engage with the histories and interests of people of color and other historically marginalized communities through ethical use of digital tools. ACLS is also celebrating its centennial year of grantmaking in 2026.

Eight start-up projects received grants of up to $25,000, while seven established projects were awarded up to $100,000. All grantees will work with the Nonprofit Finance Fund to develop long-term financial plans for their initiatives.

ACLS is a non-profit federation of 86 scholarly organizations, serving as a leading representative of American scholarship in the humanities and social sciences and advancing knowledge as a public good.
