American Rheinmetall Invests $41 Million in U.S. Defense Manufacturing

American Rheinmetall has announced a $41 million strategic investment initiative across its U.S. manufacturing operations in Michigan, Ohio, and Maine. The move aims to expand defense production capacity, modernize infrastructure, and strengthen the domestic supply chain. These investments are designed to accelerate readiness for key U.S. defense modernization programs, including the U.S. Army’s XM30 Combat Vehicle.

The initiative leverages the company’s established U.S. manufacturing footprint, including facilities, workforce capabilities, and supplier networks. The investment plan includes advanced manufacturing equipment, automation technologies, and facility upgrades. These are intended to increase production speed, precision machining capabilities, and scalable capacity to support the U.S. military and domestic industrial base.

"Expanding existing capabilities provides a decisive advantage at a time when speed, scalability, and certainty are paramount," said Matt Warnick, CEO of American Rheinmetall. "These investments reflect our long-term commitment to supporting the U.S. Warfighter and strengthening the domestic defense industrial base." Approximately $12 million of the investment has already been deployed.

The investment strategy prioritizes the expansion and modernization of existing operations over constructing new facilities, which is intended to reduce time-to-production. Key goals include increasing production throughput for artillery, combat, and tactical wheeled vehicles, expanding capacity for critical vehicle structures and mobility systems, and enhancing precision manufacturing for missile-related components.
