American Water Foundation Awards Water and Environment Grants in West Virginia

The American Water Charitable Foundation has announced grants for seven nonprofit organizations across West Virginia, aimed at supporting water resource conservation and environmental education. These grants are part of the Foundation's Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, which focuses on water, people, and communities.

Recipients include organizations such as Children's Place Inc., which will use funds for an outdoor water stewardship garden. The Foundation for Ohio River Education will focus on water quality science and community service, while Healing Water for Warriors will support its Cast & Catch program for veterans and first responders. Other grantees include Lewis County First Inc. for trail development and maintenance, and the New River Conservancy for a water monitoring program.

Scott Wyman, president of West Virginia American Water and a board member of the Foundation, highlighted the importance of these collaborations. "We're grateful to partner with organizations across West Virginia that are doing incredible work to protect and celebrate our water resources," Wyman stated. He noted that their dedication to conservation, environmental education, and water-based recreation makes a significant difference.

The American Water Charitable Foundation, established by American Water, has distributed over $25 million in grants and matching gifts since 2012 to support organizations in communities served by American Water. Funding for these grants comes from American Water shareholders and does not impact customer rates.
